When you first meet Urvashi Pal, what stands out is her clarity. She speaks with the confidence of someone who knows where she is headed, yet with the humility of someone who has seen how much effort it takes to get there.
After completing her Class 12, Urvashi took a gap year to join the Dakshana Foundation’s free residential program in Pune, where she prepared for JEE Advanced. The experience not only sharpened her academic focus but also strengthened her resolve to pursue engineering with purpose. Today, she is a proud student of Computer Science Engineering at Delhi Technological University (DTU).
Urvashi’s choice of course stems from a deep curiosity she has carried since school, understanding how concepts connect with the real world. For her, engineering is not just about equations and algorithms; it is about finding practical solutions to everyday problems. She sees this field as a bridge between knowledge and action, between learning and meaningful change
Urvashi’s dreams, however, are not built in isolation. Behind them is the unwavering support of her family. Urvashi’s father runs a small weekly street shop selling garments, while her mother manages the household. Their income covers the basics, but higher education has stretched their resources to the limit. Tuition fees, books, travel, and project expenses often come at the cost of household compromises. Urvashi has always been aware of the sacrifices her parents make, and this awareness has shaped her sense of responsibility.
The Shiksha Sankalp Lakshya Scholarship has come at a crucial point in her journey. For Urvashi, it is not just financial assistance; it is freedom. Freedom to focus on her studies without constantly worrying about the next set of expenses. Freedom to take up opportunities like internships and projects that will prepare her for the challenges ahead. And above all, it is encouragement, an affirmation that her hard work and potential are being recognized.
Looking ahead, Urvashi envisions herself working in roles where she can innovate, improve systems, and contribute to society. She wants to apply her knowledge to build meaningful solutions while also creating opportunities for others. One of her strongest motivations is the thought of being able to support her family in return, and to help other students the way she is being supported today.
