About Us

Our Founding Story

Shiksha Sankalp Society began not with a grant or an institutional mandate, but with a founder who had seen firsthand what education could do, and decided to act on it.

Harish Nagpal, the founder, was born and raised in Delhi. His family’s history instilled in him an early and enduring belief that education is not a privilege but a foundation, one that shapes not just individual lives but entire communities. He attended a government college in India before moving to the United States for further studies, where he built a business over the course of three decades.

As his career matured, the promise he had made to himself, to repay India’s investment in his education in some meaningful way, came into sharper focus. When a deserving student reached out for help funding her postgraduate studies, he supported her. Word spread. More students came forward. What began as a personal gesture became a structured commitment.

He registered a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in New Jersey, established Resolve4Education.org, and contributed the founding investment personally. Every dollar that has flowed through Shiksha Sankalp Society since its inception has come from a single source: the founder’s own commitment.

Shiksha Sankalp Society was not born in the early years of a career, nor at its peak. It was built at the inflection point that Andrew Carnegie described in The Gospel of Wealth – the passage from a life of earning to a life of giving back. Carnegie believed that the first third of a life should be spent acquiring education, the second building the means to act, and the third returning that fortune to the world in ways that create lasting good. That philosophy is the architecture of this organisation. The students Shiksha Sankalp Society supports are in their first third. We are doing our part to make it count.

The Core Beliefs That Guide Shiksha Sankalp Society

At Shiksha Sankalp Society, our work is rooted in a set of core beliefs that inspire and motivate everything we do:

Equity in Education

We believe every deserving student should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed, regardless of their financial background.

Integrity in Purpose

We are committed to transparency, fairness, and accountability in how we identify, support, and stand by our scholars.

Opportunity as a Catalyst

We believe that when given the right opportunity, students can rise above limitations and shape a better future for themselves and their communities.

Why We Do This

India produces an extraordinary number of talented young people. Many of them never get the opportunity their ability deserves, not because of a lack of ambition, but because of a lack of access. The students Shiksha Sankalp Society supports are pursuing medicine at reputed medical universities, engineering at IITs and NITs, and professional degrees at universities across the country. They have already cleared some of the most competitive entrance examinations in the world. What stood between them and their education was money, and the absence of someone willing to bridge the gap.

Shiksha Sankalp Society exists to be that bridge. Not through charity, but through the recognition of potential. Our scholars are selected on the basis of demonstrated academic merit, financial need, character, and long-term purpose. We look for students who have already shown that they will make use of the opportunity, and we commit to seeing them through to completion.
