When you speak with Kavita Bisht, a Political Science student at Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, one thing becomes instantly clear: her words carry quiet conviction. Thoughtful, articulate, and deeply sincere, Kavita embodies the spirit of the Shiksha Sankalp Lakshya Scholarship: determination, purpose, and a genuine desire to create meaningful change.
Kavita’s interest in understanding society and the way institutions function began during her school years. This curiosity led her to choose Humanities after Class 10 and eventually pursue Political Science at college. She is particularly interested in understanding governance, administration, international relations, and the workings of the systems that shape our country and the world.
Kavita’s love for Political Science and Psychology runs deep. Inspired by Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, Kavita dreams of following in his footsteps to become an IFS officer, representing India on the global stage with dignity and intellect.
Beyond academics, Kavita finds joy in giving back. As an active member of the National Service Scheme (NSS), the Girl Up Club, and a volunteer at an NGO, she spends her time teaching underprivileged children and raising awareness about gender equality. “I feel content knowing I can contribute to the community around me. It fills me with warmth every time I interact with the young children,” she shares.
Polite, poised, and grounded, Kavita carries a quiet confidence that draws people in. Yet her proudest achievement isn’t an academic milestone; it’s her personal transformation. From a shy, introverted girl to a young woman who speaks her mind with ease and conviction, Kavita has grown into someone who truly believes in her own voice. “I’ve started to love this version of myself,” she says with a smile.
For Kavita, the Shiksha Sankalp Lakshya Scholarship is an opportunity to pursue her education with greater focus and continue working towards her long-term goals. It supports her journey as she deepens her understanding of Political Science and prepares to pursue a master’s in international relations. For Kavita, the scholarship is also an encouragement to keep learning, growing, and working towards her aspiration of joining the Indian Foreign Service.
The world could use more voices like hers, calm, clear, and full of purpose.
