Inside the Lakshya Scholarship Fund Flow — from your donation to a scholar’s education.
“Where does my money actually go?” is a fair question.
It’s the question every thoughtful donor asks and most charities answer badly, with a pie chart of vague percentages, or a slogan about “impact,” and nothing you could actually trace.
If you’re considering a gift to the Lakshya Scholarship, you deserve better than that. Here is the literal path a donation takes, from your card or bank transfer to a specific student’s tuition, with nothing skipped.
When you give at resolve4education.org/donate, the recipient is Shiksha Sankalp Society, a nonprofit registered in the United States under IRC Section 501(c)(3), based at 100 Professional View Drive, Suite 116, Freehold, New Jersey.
Tax ID (EIN): 99-0455069
This is what makes the gift tax-deductible for US donors in the first place. You’re giving to an American charity that runs its program in India, not sending money directly overseas.
Shiksha Sankalp Society exists to run one flagship program: the Lakshya Scholarship, for meritorious students from economically constrained backgrounds who’ve just finished Class 12.
Donations made toward the scholarship go into that program rather than a broad, undifferentiated operating budget.
Applying costs the student nothing — there is no application fee. But eligibility is specific, not open-ended.
Every applicant also has to submit a full document set: Aadhaar card, Class 12 marksheet, entrance exam result (NEET/JEE/CUET or equivalent), proof of university admission, the institution’s official fee structure, current fee payment receipts, bank account details, and income proof.
Income proof may include an ITR, government income certificate, or a sworn affidavit if neither is available.
Important: Incomplete applications are not considered. This is the first filter, and it happens before the scholarship committee reviews a single case.
Meeting the eligibility bar gets an application into the review pipeline; it doesn’t guarantee an award.
Buddy4Study, the implementation partner and one of India’s largest scholarship platforms, supports the application and verification process, while final selection remains entirely at Shiksha Sankalp Society’s discretion.
Based on academic record and demonstrated financial need.
Submitted details are checked for accuracy.
A conversation with the shortlisted candidate, which may include their parents.
The scholarship committee at Shiksha Sankalp Society makes the final selection.
The interview isn’t a test. There’s no entrance exam for the scholarship itself, and no special preparation is expected. It’s a conversation about the student’s academic background, family circumstances, and goals.
Its purpose is to confirm what the paperwork already suggests: that this is a real student with a real gap standing between them and their degree.
Once a student is selected, disbursement isn’t an informal transfer. Shiksha Sankalp Society legally routes and disburses scholarship funds to Indian students, in accordance with applicable requirements under India’s Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).
This ensures that the movement of funds is documented and transparent rather than ad hoc.
From there, the award is ordinarily deposited directly into the scholar’s own bank account. In certain cases, typically where it’s more practical or reliable, it is instead paid directly to the bank account of the educational institution the student is enrolled in.
Either way, the destination is the student’s education costs, not an intermediary.
For students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine, Pharmacy, or Architecture at a Government, State, Central, or Public University, the scholarship goes up to:
Roughly $1,200 per academic year. The exact amount is set after assessing that specific student’s need and circumstances, rather than paying a flat amount to everyone.
Students in other full-time undergraduate degrees, including non-STEM courses, are considered on a case-by-case basis outside that STEM cap.
Preference in selection goes to:
The program is explicitly designed to prioritize applicants for whom one year’s tuition is most likely to be the deciding factor in whether they finish.
The scholarship is renewable annually for up to four years, enough to cover a full undergraduate degree.
Each year, the scholar has to meet the program’s continuing requirements.
Miss the bar, and the scholarship isn’t renewed.
There’s no repayment obligation either way. Scholars aren’t expected to pay the money back — only, if and when they’re able, to pay it forward through mentorship, volunteering, or their own future giving.
Shiksha Sankalp Society doesn’t run this alone. The program works alongside institutional partners including:
These are named, checkable institutions, not logos on a page. Each has its own reputation to protect, providing an additional layer of outside accountability alongside the internal selection process.
Your gift goes to a US-registered 501(c)(3), is earmarked for the Lakshya Scholarship, and funds a student who clears the academic and financial eligibility requirements, document verification, and video interview.
The scholarship can continue for up to four years, contingent on continued enrollment and academic performance.
Every link in that chain is something you could, in principle, verify.
