Rishab Singh's Story

Meet Shiksha Sankalp Scholar Rishab Singh

For Rishab Singh, the idea of engineering was never about following a well-worn path. Growing up in Delhi, he often found himself curious about how things worked, machines, systems, and the people who built them. His elder brother’s journey into Computer Science at DTU strengthened that curiosity, but Rishab knew early on that he wanted to do something different, something that pushed him beyond familiar boundaries.

That curiosity eventually led him to the sea. The world of marine engineering, with its mix of technology, endurance, and adventure, caught his imagination. Captivated by the field’s uniqueness and the promise of exploration, Rishab chose to pursue Marine Engineering at the Indian Maritime University in Kolkata.  “Marine life is different from any other engineering field,” he says. “We work on ships, travel across countries, and face challenges that test us both mentally and emotionally.” It was exactly the kind of challenge he was looking for.

Behind that ambition lies a quiet story of perseverance. Rishab’s father works as a factory worker, the only earning member of the family, while both sons pursue higher education. Balancing dreams against daily realities has never been easy, but Rishab has never let that hold him back. Preparing for his entrance exams through PhysicsWallah’s online classes, he spent months focused on one goal: earning his place at the Indian Maritime University in Kolkata.

The Shiksha Sankalp Lakshya Scholarship has made a real difference in his journey. It has taken a weight off his family’s shoulders and given Rishab the space to focus on learning, training, and the demanding life at sea that awaits him. For him, it’s not just financial aid, it’s a step toward turning effort into opportunity.

As he moves forward, Rishab carries with him the resilience shaped by his upbringing and the quiet determination to keep learning, no matter how rough the waters get.
